How to watch Sky 3D on a 3D Sony BRAVIA TV

We understand that some of our customers have been experiencing trouble with getting their SKY 3D channel to synchronise with their 3D TV’s. So with the help of Sony, we thought we would explain how to get around the problem. Essentially SKY HD boxes have no HDMI CEC* functionality i.e they do not automatically send the 3D information to your 3D TV. Therefore for you to enjoy the 3D image format sent by a Sky HD 3D box, you have to manually select format required (Side by Side) on your 3D TV.
To get it right on as Sony Bravia TV follow these instructions:
- Select the Sky 3D channel
- Push ‘Options’ on your BRAVIA remote control, and select ‘3D Menu’
- Select ‘3D Display’ and then ‘On’
- Scroll down to ‘3D Format’ and select ‘Side‐by‐Side’
- Push the ‘Return’ button on your remote control to enjoy Sky 3D
N.B. If you switch to a channel other than the Sky 3D channel, you will need to push the ‘3D’ button on your remote control to return the TV to normal 2D viewingHowever, if you then switch back to Sky 3D, you can simply push the ‘3D’ button again to return to 3D viewing
*CEC – Consumer Electronic Control - HDMI products that have CEC have HDMI control functionality which can then provide many different HDMI remote functions. In this case because the SKY box is not CEC compliant it is unable to set 3D Bravia settings automatically. Please note: That 3D Blu-ray products will not be affected by any of the format changes made for the SKY box and will switch automatically due to having CEC functionality.
